Days 183 to 185 - Tens Machine

Once before quite a long time ago James attempted to use a Tens machine on me to stimulate some muscle action in my leg. At that time I couldn’t feel anything so we gave that up as a bad job but today we tried once again. It was so odd to see my big toe "twitch" to the pulse of the machine. James had to admit he didn’t know why the toe moved as he was attempting to make the ankle flex but it is not always easy to get the electrodes to stimulate the correct place, because there are so many muscles in that part of the leg.

James was quite impressed even though the muscle wasn’t the one he was looking for. However from my point of view to move my toe was a huge thing; I just would so like to be able to move them myself voluntarily. We continued the experiment for quite some time with James moving the electrodes a little at a time in an attempt to locate the correct muscle. Each time he moved them he would say "just once more" and finally added that he "could do that with me because he knew I wouldn’t mind him experimenting on me". If that helps me or anyone else it's fine by me. I am willing to try anything if there is a a chance it might improve my mobility. Our good friend Alan came down to Kent yesterday so we could all go to the Handfasting venue to work out a few logistics. We then went and had a lovely dinner together to complete the day. Now it's Friday again and Paul has gone off to work, the girls have started the half term holiday and life continues it's routine. Once the weekend is over and Paul is back from work on Monday morning we can do what we do best and enjoy the most: spend time together next week.
